Adjustment Levels

SELF PORTRAITS

I had a lot of different ideas that I wanted express, but the ones that seemed to work the best, were the spontaneous ideas. It seemed that after I took my first pictures, more ideas started flowing. I wanted to show the different sides of my personality; I wanted to show the determined, the calm and the more serious side of myself. Not many people know this side of me, and that were I based most of my ideas on. Honestly, everything seemed to flow really well, especially since I wasn’t concentrating too hard on the task I had in front of me. Everything seemed to mesh together, especially having my partners as examples for my own work.
All of my pictures in some way, in my opinion, tell a story. If I have to choose one picture that has the most craftsmanship, I would have to say that my Element picture has the most craftsmanship. The angle it was taken at brings a lot of depth into this picture. This picture could have gone both with color or black and white, because of the many different colors, different shades of blacks grays and whites, and the different textures. This picture is symbolic of where I would like to be, like my idea of heaven right now. I look at peace in this picture.
In my opinion, my over all craftsmanship was really good. We knew when we were going to take pictures in the sun that it was going to be too bright, especially on the concrete basketball court or when I was sitting on top of one of one of the concrete horses that are on either side of the stairs, so we made sure that the ISO was at 50. When we were taking pictures of me playing basketball, we used F-stop so that we could capture the picture without having it be blurry. There was some sort of blur on my arm when I was taking a reverse lay-up, but it doesn’t really affect the picture in a negative way at all.
This project was fun, because I enjoy the actual taking pictures part of photography, especially taking pictures that depict what is important and how we would like to be viewed. I loved having to put the pictures black and white, because it made them mean more and gave them more of an effect. My favorite picture was of me dribbling the ball towards the basket. It shows movement and my passion for this sport. Looking at this picture makes me remember the ambition and dedication I had for basketball, and that I wish I still possessed. My least favorite picture if there had to be one is the picture where I was going up for a reverse lay-up. To me it would have looked better if I could actually see the basketball going into the net, or at least towards the basket. Maybe if we set it up to where the picture was taken underneath me. Either was I really enjoyed this assignment because it really seemed to show myself and others the person I really am.

Personal Metaphor

I chose this simile, because it seemed to fit me. Panda bears, and even bears in general, are extreemly strong inside and out. They are smart, love to eat, and work hard to care for there young. They also love to roll around and interact with each other, but can also be by themselves for long periods of time. Panda bears are also calm and lay around just enjoying themselves. This whole description describes me almost perfectly. In my picture i was trying to express how mellow I am and that I'm not this energenic person that is seen by others everywhere; I would just love to rest. I was also trying to capture a more layed-back mood that didn't have a lot of noise.
I tried to lay my body the exact way that the bear was possitioned so that it would be an easier transformation, which seemed to work. i also made it so that my jeans showed over the bear's back, so that it would have a better affect. My focal area attomatically seems to be my head/face, and that leads the viewer also towards my back arm, and to the text.Everything seems to be balanced because the text and my body leads the viewers eyes diagnally down the picture. My photo also seems to mesh well with almost evrything that is on there. The only thing that should be fixed is the my arm, because the color sticks out way to much, especially because of its color, and maybe even my shirt color, which sticks out a little to much than it should.
In my oppinion, the way i did my backround made the picture look a lot better than it did. What I don't like about my picture is the fact that I struggled really bad on my face, and it made it look like a mask, and there are also parts that I didn't blend in as well and are noticable. I also know that i could have blended my arm in with the bear a lot better, but I just didn't know what to do. And maybe blend my pants in better so that the colors don't stick out so much.Next time I will make a layer for every critque I make when I do photoshop, because I really do not want to struggle this bad again.

Shutter spead is one tool that is really helpful. It makes your picturse come out more clear. This tool helps you to focus on the main object and pause it in time. It also affects the amount for light that comes into the picture. When you are in the dark, and you want to take a picture you program the picture on manual and it could last up to 12 seconds to take in all the light, and to make the picture really bright. In the first picture I Courtney kept moving his upper body so i focused the lower half that wasn't moving which made the picture look kind of neat.

Aesthetic Experience

Today we all went outside to have an Aesthetic experience. To me, I felt as if I was in the cup myself. It seemed as if I wa in a cyclone of a rainbow that seemed to swirl faster and faster, never ending. As the different colors continue to swirl I get lost in time.

SHADOWS AND REFLECTIONS

In these exercises we learned how to create shadows and reflections to help us create more realistic artwork. A new tool we learned was layer masks. -The things we learned here can help me in the future by giving me an option of changing positions of objects and making them look more realistic, because of how we learned how to change the shadow to look like the object. It also helped me because we now I know how to make an object have a reflection, but it can even make an object invisible.
